Curriculum Vitae

1991 to date

I am a freelance translator, working successfully from home.  I work with a number of national and international companies and translation agencies, translating mainly technical, medical and legal documents and contracts.

1985-90

I continued translating and organising further medical conferences for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Rome.  I also translated articles for many medical journals.

1979-86

While at The University of Rome Medical School, I found that my translating skills and conference experience were much in demand.  I became involved in research, carried out in Italian, which I translated into English for use at international conferences such as The XI International Congress of the International Society of Psychoneuroendocrinology (Florence, 1980).

1976-79

I then moved to the American Express Congress Division, Rome, where I was responsible for organising medical conferences, such as The International Congress of Psychosomatic Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Rome, 1977).

My duties included translating, interpreting (simultaneous, consecutive and ad-hoc), and preparing and proof reading abstracts for publication.  I also maintained contact with conference participants, airlines, hotels and pharmaceutical companies world-wide.

1975-76

I worked for the Carmen Soccorsi Translating Company in Rome, specialising in medical translations.
